LEADING EDUCATORS RECEIVES GRANT FROM W. K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION

Funds Will Support Online Learning Portal for Teacher-Leaders

New Orleans, Louisiana — August 2, 2012 — Leading Educators is poised to further help teachers across the country develop leadership skills with the support of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation.

Leading Educators’ programs train mid-level teachers in leadership skills to ultimately increase student achievement in high-needs schools. The Kellogg Foundation $321,463 grant supports the development of the Leading Educators online portal for teacher-leaders. The portal will be an online system that provides innovative professional development to teacher-leaders involved in the Leading Educators Fellowship and OnDemand programs.

“We’re excited to launch the online portal with teacher-leaders in our Fellowship program, which will open doors to many new possibilities for learning,” said Chong-Hao Fu, Chief Program Officer at Leading Educators. “Keeping our mission of student success in mind, our next step is to enhance the content and reach of this unique online learning tool.”

The Kellogg Foundation grant will support the professional development portal’s research and development phases through the end of May 2013.

“The portal will connect teacher-leaders from all over the country,” said Leading Educators CEO Jonas Chartock. “We’re excited to have a space where teacher-leaders can learn from each other and ultimately help each other build the culture and practices that will help students achieve.”
